Dagestan and NTV-Plus channel sign cooperation agreement

Makhachkala, February 18, 2019. Yesterday, February 17, at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi, the Head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasilyev and the general director of NTV Plus Natalya Gorbunova signed a cooperation agreement.

According to the document, fr om March 1 2019, the NTV-Plus will provide the residents of remote settlements of Dagestan with free satellite digital television. The company will provide access to the social package which consists of not less than 20 TV channels, including the all-Russian mandatory public TV channels, the broadcast of which is provided for by the Federal Law “On Communications”.

The republic had already completed the construction of a network of digital terrestrial television broadcasting under the program "The development of TV and radio broadcasting in the Russian Federation for 2009-2018." From January to June 2019, the broadcasting of analogue TV channels will be gradually phased out - the press service of the regional government reports. The region launches transition to the digital television.

Currently, 138 settlements in 26 districts, wh ere 54,705 people live permanently, which is 1.8% of the republic’s total population do not have the technical capability to receive digital broadcasting in the municipalities.
