Cultural and leisure center and an ice arena to be built in Dagestan

Makhachkala, August 17, 2019. An ice arena and a cultural and leisure center will be built in the village of Krasnoarmeyskoye in Dagestan, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the head coach of the republican combat sambo team said.
"There are 40 hectares of territory for the parking and the entertainment centers in Krasnoarmeyskoye district. Apart from the Ice Palace, the facility may host big concerts, forums and congresses" Nurmagomedov said at the meeting with the participants of the Mashuk- 2019 Youth Forum which is taking place in Pyatigorsk these days.

On March 20, the Head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, in his annual message to the republic’s parliament, announced that the regional leadership plans to build a modern ice arena in Makhachkala. Vasiliev noted that the new center should have been multifunctional.

According to Nurmagomedov, the regional governor wants to revive training facilities in Dagestan. “It would be great if we can build big sport halls like in the time of the Soviets”. Nurmagomedov specified that several sport bases for the teams remained in the neighboring states after the breakdown of the USSR.

About Forum

The North Caucasus Youth Forum "Mashuk" has been held in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Territory) since 2010. Since the very beginning approx. 20 thousand people took part in the annual events. In 2018, the forum was held on August 10 – 24 and was attended by almost 2 thousand representatives of the regions of Russia and foreign countries. In 2019, the forum runs from August 9 to 30. For the first time a third shift will be organized at Mashuk because the number of participants has increased up to 3 thousand.
