Makhachkala, August 21, 2019. After the international symposium "Alanika" in Vladikavkaz, the National Museum of the Republic of Dagestan will present an exhibition of Dagestan silk scarves - the most famous and popular part of women's costume. This was announced by the deputy general director of the museum Dzhamilya Dagirova.

"The ethnographic art project "Gulmendo-Kelagai" tells about our favorite element of Dagestan costume - the silk printed scarf of Gulmendo. It is planned that the exhibition will last for a month: from August 30 to September 30. I brought 15 shawls of different epochs and ornaments with me" - Dagirova said.

Dagirova added that a workshop was held as part of the symposium for those wishing to make a scarf. “I showed how the shawl is made, what dyes are added, how the ornament is made, how the whole process takes place. There were a lot of people interested in” – Dagirova confessed.  

According to Dagirova, as an artist, she will present an author’s project in which she will show the frottages (an art technique using rubbing pencil movements) of national patterns carved in stone or carved in wood.
