Jeju, South Korea, November 26, 2014. Zemfira Magomedalieva won the world championship in women's boxing, her teammate Saadat Abdulaeva earned a silver medal, the athletes’ coach Sokhrab Manapov told RIA "Dagestan" in a telephone conversation.
The world women’s boxing championships were taking place November 13-24 in South Korean Jeju. "I’m very happy for Zemfira, because this is her first big international success. She is a deserved #1in the Russian team in her weight. Today she once again showed her high class. It’s been a really exhausting championship for us both. It may look like an easy tournament for my trainee, but this is not the case, given only the semi-final against a very strong almost 2-meter tall Chinese Shidzhin Wang. And in the final, she left no chance to Lyazzat Kungeybaeva of Kazakhstan," Manapov commented.
Zemfira Magomedalieva in the most prestigious 81 kg weight had 4 fights in the tournament - with Azerbaijani Aynur Rzayeva, Indian Kavita, Chinese woman Shidzhin Wang, and Kazakhstani Lyazzat Kungeybaeva.
Saadat Abdullaeva in the 69 kg weight lost to Panama’s Ateyne Bilon in the final. Before that, Abdullaeva defeated Kazakhstani Dariga Shakimova, Ukrainian Maria Bova, and French Erika Guerrier. Interestingly, another Dagestani athlete now representing Azerbaijan – Yelena Vystropova – won the bronze medal in the weight.
The Russian team won the team standings of the championships with 3 golds, a silver, and a bronze. Other 2 Russia’s world champions in the Russian team are Zinaida Dobrynina (57 kg) and Anastasia Belyakova, and Elena Saveleva (54 kg) is the bronze winner.
At the 2013 world championships held in Qinhuangdao, China, the Russian team won a gold, a silver and 7 bronze medals.
