Makhachkala, February 12, 2015. World and European wrestling champion Zamira Rakhmanova is going to return to the big mat at the Russian championships to be held April 27-28 in Kemerovo, her coach Emma Magomedova said in an interview with RIA Dagestan.

"September 2012 was the last time Zamira performed at the large mat at the world championships in Canada, where she finished fifth. The same year, she got married. After Zamira become a mother, she had to cancel training. Now her baby is a year and a half old, and she’s been attending a wrestling gym of the Makhachkala Road College for the last six months.

"The most important thing now is gaining a good fit to be well-prepared for the national championships in April. It is so far unsettled which weight she will represent. We expect the results of this event to let her qualify for the national team that will head for the world championships," Magomedova detailed.

"After childbirth, Zamira confessed to me she had been missing the mat and the podium. She comes to train from Kaspiysk [Makhachkala’s satellite town] to Dagestan capital. Zamira takes time to give younger athletes her original master classes and helps girls prepare for tournaments. She's one of my trainees who have achieved high results in sports because of their persistence and diligence. And now, Rakhmanova has set the highest goals for herself - to qualify for the Olympic Games and earn an Olympic medal. She has the desire, yet come what may," - the coach commented.
