Makhachkala, May 22, 2017. On Saturday, May 20, the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan Abdusamad Gamidov visited the construction site of the Olympic Training Center built upon the instructions from the Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov.

Commenting on results of the inspection, the Prime Minister of Dagestan in particular noted: "At present, due to the absence of the Olympic Training Center, Dagestan combined teams for wrestling, judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing are forced to depart for Kislovodsk or the Olympic village in Krasnodar region. In this connection, it was decided to create the Olympic Training Center on the basis of the existing sports facility in Makhachkala, on the shore of the Caspian Sea."

According to Gamidov, the new facility designed for 150 beds can host both judokas and wrestlers at the same time. In the adjoining territory there will be constructed a mini stadium and a gym for not only the athletes, but the local residents as well.

“Besides, the construction of a football field and a health club with a swimming pool and massage rooms has been started. A hall for judokas will be located on the second floor. By the end of the year, it is planned to complete all the construction works, so that by the next season Dagestan sportsmen could start training sessions not leaving the republic.

We try to create such comfortable conditions for the sportsmen all across the republic. When the facility is commissioned, athletes from the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District will be able to train here, on the shore of the Caspian Sea. Taking into account the favourable climate, the new Olympic Training Centre will function in the year-round mode" - the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan said.
