Makhachkala, September 8, 2014. 102 boxers from 12 countries will take part in an international tournament in memory of outstanding Daghestani statesman and political figure Magomed-Salam Umakhanov, said judge of the upcoming sports event Shirvani Kurbanov in an interview with RIA "Dagestan".

The 16th Umakhanov tournament is scheduled to run 8-13 September at the Ali Aliyev Sports Palace in Kaspiysk. The opening ceremony starts 3pm, September 8. Prior to that, they’ll lay flowers at the monument to Umakhanova in the Lenin Komsomol Park in Mahachkala.

The international tournament will see boxers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Belarus, Tajikistan, Israel, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Crimea and Russia. Daghestan will be represented by a separate team of 20 boxers. There will be 10 weights: 49 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg, 81 kg, 91 kg, and +91 kg. 35 referees will serve the bouts.
