Dauren Kurugliev wins gold medal at European Wrestling Championship

Makhachkala, May 3, 2017. Dagestani freestyle wrestler Dauren Kurugliev, acting for the Russian national team, became the winner at the European Wrestling Championship, kicked off on May 2 in Serbia.
Kurugliev performed in the weight category up to 86 kg. At the championship, Dagestani sportsman participated in four fights, defeating rivals from Slovakia, Hungary, Georgia and Azerbaijan. In the decisive meeting, Kurugliev gained a victory over Alexander Gosteev, the prizewinner of the European championship of the last year.

Another Dagestani wrestler Zaur Uguev became a bronze medalist in the weight category up to 57 kg. The graduate of the Khasavyurt sport school defeated Vladimir Egorov, the Yakut sportsman acting for the Macedonia team, and then the prize-winner of last year Andrej Yatsenko from Ukraine. However, at the semi-final stage, Uguev lost to the future champion Georgy Edisherashvili from the Azerbaijani team. Finally, in the contest for the bronze medal, Uguev surpassed the French sportsman Zocher El-Wurak.

In the women's competitions, Milana Dadasheva became the winner in the weight category up to 48 kg. Dadasheva confidently reached the semi-finals, but because of a knee injury, she could not compete for the third place. Finally, Dagestani sportswoman took the fifth place.

In the second day of the competition in Serbia, another Dagestani wrestler Ilyas Bekbulatov (65 kg) and Chechen athlete Anzor Boltukaev (97 kg) will compete for the medals.
