Daghestan sportsmen gain medals at the Russian competitions

Makhachkala, July 4, 2014. Daghestani Greco-Roman wrestlers obtained different medals in the national competitions held recently in Nalchik and Salsk, the coach of Daghestan Greco-Roman Wrestling Federation reports.

As to Ali Ismailov, the Rasul Sabanchiev Memorial tournament took place in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria. Daghestan wrestling team, consisted of 20 athletes, gained 6 medals - 2 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes. The winners of the tournament became Arslanali Tanayev and Gaziyav Magomedov (up to 69 kg).

Daghestani wrestlers took five gold medals at the youth NCFD Olympics held in Salsk in Rostov region. These competitions were qualifying for the finals of Russian Youth Olympics that will be held in the city of Penza in August this year.

By results of the tournament, Kamilbek Labazakov (up to 66 kg), Shamil Khandov (up to 74 kg), Gadzhimurad Dzhalalov (up to 84 kg), Gadzhimurad Asultanov (up to 96 kg), Abaskhan Abbasov (up to 120 kg) will go to Penza.

It was also reported that Daghestani fighter Saguid Butaev, the winner of the European Championship, held in Bulgaria in May 2014, will compete as part of the Russian national team in the World Wrestling Championship in Slovakia on July 13 – 15.
