Makhachkala, February 11, 2015. Dagestani billiard players took part in the Russian combined pyramid championship held February 3-8 in Moscow, President of Dagestan Billiard Association Aydemir Aliyev told RIA Dagestan.

The championship welcomed 115 participants, both first-grade and world-class athletes. Here, Dagestan was represented by Rustam Alebkachev and Akhmed Ismailov - they both had qualified for the championship on the results of the republican tournament in memory of Nazim Murtazaliev.

"On the first day of the contest, two world champions were defeated. Akhmed Ismailov unexpectedly won one of them - Honoured Master of Sports Yuri Pashchinskiy from Samara. Then, Ismailov beat 5:0 Sergei Stepanov from Sevastopol, and only in 1/32 finals Akhmed lost 3:5 the future champion Pavel Plotnikov from Moscow. Rustam Alebkachev’s performance was not so impressing. There were also other Dagestani nationals representing other Russian regions.

Since the Dagestan quota for the national championship is two people, some of our guys were representing other regions; Shamil Gabdrakhmanov war performing for Kazan (lost Pavel Plotnikov in the quarterfinal), and Shamil Zagalaev was representing Smolensk,"- A.Aliyev specified.
