Dagestan judokas win Russia’s championship among visually impaired

Makhachkala, October 28, 2015. Dagestani judokas gained 13 medals at the Russia’s championship among the visually impaired, held in Novosibirsk on October 24 - 26, the press service of Dagestan ministry of physical culture and sports reports.

20 athletes represented Dagestan at the competitions. The native of Kizilyurt Abdul Kuramagomedov won the single gold medal for Dagestan combined team. The trainer Aseldar Magomedov’s pupil was leading in the weight category up to 100 kg. In the finals, Kuramagomedov defeated his countryman Malik Kurbanov, who eventually took the second place.

Abdurakhmanov Saad (81 kg), Osman Akaev (100 kg) and the most titled representatives of Dagestan team, Paralympic champion Madina Kazakova (57 kg) have become the silver medal winners.

By results of the competition, the best athletes will be selected for the participation as part of the Russsian combined team, in the European Championships in Portuguese Lisbon, on November 23 - 30. In Lisbon, the winners will compete for the permit to participate in the Paralympic Games in 2016 in Rio.
