Bilal Makhov – fresh Russian Greco-Roman wrestling champion

St. Petersburg, March 13, 2015. Dagestani Greco-Roman wrestler Bilal Makhov won the Russian championship in Greco-Roman wrestling that is taking place in St. Petersburg on March 10-11, coach of Dagestan team Magomed Askhabov told RIA Dagestan.

The championships have assembled over 300 athletes from different Russian regions performing in 8 weights: 59, 66, 71, 75, 80, 85, 98, and 130 kg.
Here, Dagestan is represented by eleven athletes: Shamsudin Aliyev (59 kg), Ibragim Akayev (60 kg), Taimaz Aliyev (60 kg), Shamil Handov (75 kg), Yussup Magomedov (75 kg), Magomedali Magomedaliev (80 kg) Abdurakhman Nurov (80 kg), Gamzat Yussupov (84 kg), Abdulmuslim Imanaliev (98 kg), Gadji Magomedov (130 kg), and Bilal Makhov (130 kg).

On the first day of the tournament, triple world champion Bilal Makhov had four bouts winning all of them thus earning the title in his weight. Shamsudin Aliyev and Gamzat Yussupov lost in 1/8 and 1/4 finals. The rest of the Dagestan team will step on the mat on the second day of the event.

The results of the championships will determine the wrestlers who as part of the national team will take part in the forthcoming European championships in Baku and the world championships in Los Angeles.
