Makhachkala, November 12, 2015. The first shelter designed for ten rock-climbers has opened at the foot of the highest point of Dagestan – the Bazarduzu Mountain (4466 m), the chairman of the Mountaineering Federation of the Republic Of Dagestan Pyotr Leonov says.

The shelter is located at an altitude of 2 thousand 350 meters. It is equipped with an autonomous power supply and can be used in winter. The shelter was constructed by the mountaineering federation of Dagestan with the assistance of Dokuzparinskiy district administration and the residents of Kurush village.

Leonov said that the shelter would become the starting point for the further development of mountaineering in Dagestan. Thus, Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov, having visited Dokuzparinsky district in August, appreciated the initiative of the residents to develop the sport in the district and to construct the required infrastructure.

"We have a mountain Yarydag, where the mountaineering competitions are held in last few years. I think it would be a good idea to create a tourist center there as part of the federal program. It would be beneficial for young people and for the economy of the region", - one of the residents noted.

Ramazan Abdulatipov supported this initiative. "It must be done in different Dagestan districts. The program of mountaineering development will be included into a number of my orders in this direction. In particular, some municipal heads have already created several guest houses in the mountainous areas", - Abdulatipov concluded.
