Makhachkala, June 16, 2014. Daghestan sportsmen obtained 12 medals of different values in the Russian Pankration Championship, held on June 14 – 15 in the city of Obninsk, Kaluga region, the head of the regional Pankration Federation Imanali Khanipaev told the RIA "Dagestan".

As to the spokesman, Daghestan team consisting of 30 athletes, managed to take the second place in the team standings, ceded only to hosts of the competition. By results, Daghestani team took 6 first, 4 second and 2 third places. Totally, more than 300 athletes participated in the championship of Russia.
Ramazan Dzhabrayilov (up to 45 kg), Muslim Gulmaitov (up to 50 kg), Makamagomed Khairullaev (up to 60 kg), Gimbat Ismailov (80 kg), Salim Gadzhiyev (65 kg) and Arslan Shikhaev (up to 72 kg) have become the winners of the competition in different weight categories. These sporstmen will represent Daghestan, as a part of the Russian team at the World Championship in Moscow in November 2014.

According to Khanipaev, the president of the Russia Pankration Federation Vladimir Klenshev appreciated successes of Daghestani athletes at the Russian Championships and offered to hold an international pankration tournament entitled "Caspian Cup" in Makhachkala.

The head of the regional Pankration Federation also reported that eight athletes of Pankration Federation acting for the Russian national team will go to Portugal to participate in MMA World Championships on August 23.
