Makhachkala, April 23, 2015. The "War Unknown" exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War opened today at the lobby of the Avar Music and Drama Theatre in Makhachkala. It presents unique photographs and documents of Dagestani Heroes of the Soviet Union from Alexander Puterbrot’s collection. In total, they are some 200 items: letters, premium sheets, various documents, and photos even coloured pictures taken on the trophy film.

At the opening ceremony, deputy Dagestan Minister of Culture Murad Gajiyev told that in the 1940s, the Avar Theater staff not only were actively involved in the cultural work, but also fought in the Great Patriotic War. Today, the theatre is still an active participant in the public life of the republic.

"The theatre has done a great work preparing this exhibition. The result of this work is a good museum show. This is a really great work, the collective soul of theater is felt here. Thank you very much for that," Gajiyev said.
The exhibition runs until the end of May. Admission is free.
