Makhachkala, March 26, 2014. On March 25, the patriotic platform of the "United Russia"’s Daghestan office held a meeting in the Deputies’ Centre there the party members discussed the women’s role in Daghestan development.

The meeting brought together deputies of the Daghestan National Assembly, municipality heads, artists, officials from higher education institutions, businessmen, and public organizations.

Opening the meeting, coordinator of the political club, member of the party’s Daghestan political council Zhanna Sulaeva noted that being a good mother, a homemaker is enough for a woman, but many women opt to be socially and politically involved.

"Women used to have to take the helm when critical decisions were to be made. In today’s world, a woman faces serious challenges. Accordingly, the fair sex also successfully participate in implementing Daghestan projects, as well as men."

"Today, Daghestan needs active and self-confident women and their active participation in the republic’s development", - said Daghestani children's ombudsman Intizar Mamutaeva.

National Assembly deputy Mussa Omarov said he was sure there should be more women among National Assembly deputies. Following the discussion, Zhanna Sulaeva said that similar discussions will be held on the other themed clubs’ platforms.
