Three natives of Dagestan to be sentenced for plans to join Islamic extremists in Syria

Makhachkala, December 5, 2016. Three natives of Dagestan appear before the court in Krasnodar on charges of preparing to participate in the illegal armed formations in the territory of Syria, the press service of the Russian Investigation Committee across Krasnodar region reports.

According to the investigators, the 18, 20 and 22-year-old suspects guided by radical Islamic ideas and acting on preliminary arrangement by group, gathered in a rented apartment in the village of Yablonovsky located in Adygea Republic and in Krasnodar from January to February, 2016. There, according to the officers, the young people developed plan to resettle in Syria to participate in the armed conflict as part of the illegal armed formation, banned on the territory of the Russian Federation which, in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court.

"This fact has been revealed by the FSB operative management employees. The investigators collected sufficient evidence to refer the criminal case to the court for consideration on the merits." – the official statement runs.
