Tea Express tourist route participants see Derbent’s culture and architectural monuments

Derbent, April 28, 2015. Tea Express tourist route participants arrived in Derbent, to study the history, culture and architectural monuments of Russia’s most ancient city - Derbent, the press service of the city administration told RIA Dagestan.

The Tea Express Friendship Train is a patriotic campaign which is part of opening a fresh tourist route through the Caucasus section of the Silk Road: Sochi, Cherkessk, Nazran, Grozny, Derbent and Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol region.

In the train, tourists fr om China, Malaysia, Russian regions, representatives of federal and regional media, and major Russian tour operators arrived in Dagestan.
The guests made tour of the city in six buses. They visited the Museum of History of World Cultures and Religions, took a walk through the narrow streets of the old town – the magals – wh ere they saw the house-museum of the poet, writer, Decembrist Bestuzhev-Marlinsky, visited the oldest in Russia Juma mosque, and of course, toured the pearl of Dagestan - the Naryn-Kala fortress.

On this day, the citadel was hosting a festival of ethnic culture of Dagestani peoples. The courts of cities and regions showcased handicrafts and national dishes for the guests to taste. Next to that, local artists and groups were giving a concert with performing folk songs and dances.

The trip deeply impressed the tourist train delegation, like they enthusiastically said in an interview with local reporters.
