Makhachkala, January 12, 2016. The Tarki-Tau Mount received the status of natural monument of regional importance, the territorial administration of Russia’s environmental watchdog reports. The signing of the relevant government regulations preceded the event.

"The establishment of specially protected area on Tarki-Tau Mount was discussed late in 1989. There were strong reasons to create a special natural complex on the mount habitat for unique flora and fauna. Suffice it to say that more than 70 species of plants and animals that live here are included into the Red Book of Russia," - the department official noted.
