"Russian Caucasus" international political science forum in Daghestan to be visited by 800

Makhachkala, August 13, 2014. About 800 people will participate in the international political science forum "Russian Caucasus" scheduled for 14-21 September to be held in Daghestan, 1st deputy Daghestan minister of national policy Zikrula Ilyassov said to a press conference adding that from 2015 on, it will be an annual event held in Makhachkala.

A lot of foreigners are going to participate. The forum’s key topics are: "Russian Caucasus: concept and historical and geographical localization", "Poliethnic Russian Caucasus: historical lessons and new challenges", "Ethnic and confessional relations and problems of religious, political and ethnic extremism", "Political institutions, elites and civil society in Russian Caucasus", etc. The event will be held at several discussion platforms in Makhachkala, Derbent, and mountainous Akhvakhskiy district in the form of plenary sessions, thematic round tables, traveling seminars, exhibitions, presentations, and master classes in Daghestan universities.

The forum will feature the second school of political science "Caspian Sea" inviting young political scientists, doctoral students, graduate students, undergraduates, politicians and non-governmental organizations. Leading political scientists, representatives of the North Caucasus Federal District regions, the State Duma deputies will deliver public lectures here.

"Russian Caucasus" will ceremonially start September 15, in the great hall of the House of Friendship. Following the forum, participants plan to publish the presented works in history, ethno-political and socio-economic science, extremism and terrorism issues, a multi-author book of the best forum’s works, and collected works of the school of political science.
