Makhachkala, April 15, 2015. Well-known Iraqi theologian Sheikh Mamoun Shahaban Khalil Al-Raviy visited Dagestan Humanities Institute, the press service of the university told RIA Dagestan.

Sheikh Al-Raviy is a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). His relationship stems from Prophet’s grandson Hussein. Sheikh Al-Raviy is the chief imam of a mosque in Dubai. He owns the highest degree in Quran’s hifz. He is also the chief referee and the president of the jury in Quran competitions in the Gulf countries, and the chairman of the Quran Committee of the Emir of the UAE.

The dignitary began the meeting with students with reading of the verses of the Holy Quran. Further, he raised a vital topic - the youth theme. Sheikh Al-Mamoun Raviy quoted the Holy Koran, "If Allah the Almighty in person calls our attention to it [youth] and moreover he swears some particles of time, he enforces us to pay particular attention to this issue."

The sheikh noted the importance of scholars (alims’) work, "Our society is made up of two components: those having power and the scientists. The former are practically inaccessible for common people, they have different kinds of problems, and alims are available and you should address them and ask them questions."

Speaking about his impressions from visiting Dagestan, Sheikh Al-Raviy said: "The Dagestan people are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Dagestan is a land of peace and security."

The students had the opportunity to ask the sheikh their questions, and they asked him in Arabic, too, and the guest was pleasantly surprised.
