Makhachkala, April 29, 2016. A group of climbers from Moscow will make a number of ascents in the mountains of Southern Dagestan in early May, the head of the Republican Mountaineering Federation Petr Leonov says.

"Moscow alpinists have expressed their desire to conquer the mountain peaks Yarydag and Shalbuzdag which are very popular among the climbers. In May, the weather is unstable, but the climbers seems to be well prepared both mentally and technically. The climbing is also planned on the Victory Day on May 9th" - Leonov is quoted saying.

"Apart from the climbers representing Dagestan and other regions of Russia, the festival will be attended by the active rest lovers from Azerbaijan and Belarus. For a week or two, the climbers will stay in the open-air camp. In the future, investors intend to construct an alpinists’ base at the foot of the mount Yarydag. The base will facilitate climbers’ living in the mountains"- the president of Dagestan mountaineering Federation said.

The traditional International Festival of mountain sports and outdoor activities "Yarydag 2016" will be held in July at the foot of the mount Yarydag.
