Makhachkala, August 10, 2015. Pursuing the goal to improve the attractiveness and trigger interest to the North Caucasian Federal District as a therapeutic and prophylactic tourism cluster, social activists have successfully implemented the "Medical tourism of the Northern Caucasus" innovative project with the grant support of the "Mashuk - 2014" Youth Forum.

According to project leader S. Magomedov, the lack of a single register and information accessibility of health institutions operating on a unique natural climate in the North Caucasus, does not allow the district to develop the conditions for the creation and development of medical tourism. It is worth noting that the medical aid to the population of the North Caucasus is rendered in 681 medical and 414 diagnostic centers.

According to the Medical Development Strategy till 2025, the most common type of medical treatment cases in the North Caucasian Federal District relates to the oncology, cardiovascular surgery, traumatology, orthopedics, neurosurgery and ophthalmology.

"The idea of medical tourism cluster in the unique eco-territory of the Northern Caucasus, which allows complementing healing process with rehabilitation component is innovative and has no analogues in the Russian Federation" - Magomedov said.

Based on monitoring, there was developed and published an illustrated guide "Medical Guide of the Northern Caucasus", which is available to the young people in the Republic of Dagestan and the other  regions of North Caucasian Federal District.

The guide presents basic information about the structure and work of different institutions, the list of medical services, high-tech hardware, staff qualifications, admission rules and contact information, as well as the possibility of rehabilitation, taking into account the climate and natural features of each region.
