"Media Caucasus" prize awarded in Pyatigorsk

Pyatigorsk, Stavropol region, December 8, 2014. The "Media Caucasus" prizes were awarded on the third day of the 2nd North Caucasian Media Forum in Pyatigorsk. Over 30 people won the prize as the result of an annual open voting for journalists working in the North Caucasus Federal District.

The voters selected winners in 10 categories: the radio, the news agency, the Internet medium, the printing medium, the TV channel, the photographer, the journalist, the media event, the discovery, and the man of the year in the North Caucasus.

Deputy presidential envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Mikhail Vedernikov, first deputy CEO of TASS Russian News Agency Mikhail Kalmykov, Adviser to the Russian Minister of Culture Mikhail Lermontov, and chairman of the Guild of Interethnic Journalism Margarita Lange were the ones to give the awards to the winners.

Interestingly, naming a mountain peak after a mass medium for the first time ever (TASS peak) was recognized as the major media event in the North Caucasus. The media man of the year in 2014 is Presidential Envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District Sergey Melikov.

This is the second time the "Media Caucasus" prize, established and organized by the Center of Modern Caucasian Policy (CMCP Kavkaz), is awarded in North Caucasus Federal District as part of the North Caucasian Media Forum.
