Lecture on Derbent’s 2,000th anniversary held in Moscow

Moscow, November 7, 2014. A series of lectures on the Derbent anniversary is being held in Moscow, a source in Daghestan ministry of press and information told RIA "Dagestan". The lecture series titled "Derbent, the oldest city in Russia" started in the Moscow State Industrial University.

The first lecture conducted by the assistant to Daghestan Permanent Representative, Doctor of Historical Sciences Professor MakhachVagabov gathered more than 150 university students and staff in the university auditorium.

Later, the guests had a tour of I. Dementievskiy’s photo exhibition on Derbent, then art critic F. Gammadova held a master class on ancient crafts observed in Derbent since the rule of Caucasian Albania in the city. The audience was also shown some fragments of films on Derbent’s history.

This is a regular event under the project called "Derbent-2000". It was preceded by a few federal level roundtable meetings: in the Central House of Journalists (Moscow - Derbent citadel) which had won international coverage and at the Russian festival of press in Sochi (Derbent at the crossroads of centuries and civilizations).
