Institute of Theology presents journalism department

Makhachkala, May 30, 2014. A journalism department was presented at the Institute of Theology and International Policy Studies to celebrate the first graduation of journalists, the press service of the university reports. The honoured guests to the presentation were Deputy Daghestan Minister of Information and Media Zubairu Zubayruev, CEO of the RGVK "Daghestan" broadcaster Magomedbek Akhmedov, Deputy Daghestan Mufti Daud-Hajji Tumalaev and other officials.

"The journalism department was established in 2010, and over the years, we have done a great meticulous work of training the qualified personnel. This event can be called a kind of a report summarizing the work we’ve done" the source said.

The host of the event, well-known journalist Muhammadrassul Abakarov, briefed on the new department, its objectives, goals, plans, and prospects. Then, they presented their creative projects already underway. In particular, they showed public service announcements devoted to family values and protected environment made by students of 1st and 3rd years. Thereafter, the host told about two youth talk shows: "Student Club" and "Youth Time" already aired on "Heritage" TV. Students are the active authors of the TV shows – they prepare the topics for discussion, develop scenarios, and perform as hosts.

"We, as ministry officials, face the problem of inadequate coverage of the processes taking place in Daghestan, - said Zubairu Zubairuev. - We have no right to bear with it. To date, we need true patriots of our motherland to provide us with correct and accurate information including the pure image of Islam. Today, Daghestan needs just the alloy - a combination of religious knowledge and purely professional journalism education." He reassured the students that the Ministry of Information and Media is always ready to support new ideas and projects and provide every possible assistance and support.
