Makhachkala, April 11, 2016. The imam of a mosque in Dagestan town of Khasavyurt arrested on suspicion of public calls for extremism and terrorism, a source in law enforcement bodies of the region informs.

“The imam of Khasavyurt mosque “Vostochnaya” Muhammad Nabi Magomedov was detained on April 8 and arrested for two months on April 9 in accordance with the decision of the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala. The detention took place right after the Friday prayer. The religious leader was summoned to the local police station and charged with public justification of terrorism and incitement of hatred or enmity" - the source said. The source noted that formal charges have not yet brought to the imam.
