Extremism Prevention Center opened in Daghestan

Makhachkala, October 29, 2014. Nov.1, a municipal budget organization named "Extremism Prevention Center" starts in Derbentskiy district, head of the center S. Navruzova says. The center has been founded by Derbentskiy district municipality.

The center primarily aims at returning to a peaceful life those who decided to quit extremist and terrorist activities. They also plan to seriously work with young people "at risk" due to their radical religious beliefs. That will help prevent lots of negative phenomena in our society and serve as a contribution to stabilizing the situation both in Daghestan and the North Caucasus.

The staff will work on each case individually attracting religious leaders, teachers, employees and other specialists.
Russian President’s Envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District S. Melikov, Daghestani Head R. Abdulatipov, head of Daghestan commission on reconciliation and peace (the initiator of the centre) R. Dzhafarov, and representatives of other NCFD regions are invited to see the center at work.

The center has enlisted support from Melikov, republican authorities, and deputy head of Derbentskiy district Shikh-Sakit Kurbanov who had taken care of all organizational issues and settled them in the shortest possible time finally providing a clean, light, comfortable and fully equipped and furnished office in a good building at the heart of Derbent.
