DSTU Dance Ensemble represents Daghestan at international festival "Student Spring in Caucasus - 2014"

Makhachkala, July 2, 2014. Daghestan State Technical University’s dance ensemble "Caucasus Mountains" represented Daghestan at the international festival "Student Spring in Caucasus-2014" held 5-28 June in Stavropol, the university’s press service told RIA "Daghestan".

It was only a 2-day event, but it was an intense and memorable show. On the first day, Daghestan ensemble attended a master class by the dean of the choreography faculty of the Moscow State University of Culture Professor Boris Sankin, the long-term chairman of the dance festival jury. In the evening, participants proceeded to the national courts. All delegations showed their culture and life; Daghestan delegation represented traditional Daghestan cuisine and the national costume – everyone could taste the dishes and learn more about the culture of the region.

The second day was eventful, too. In the morning, they took a walking tour of Stavropol. In the evening, the open area of the Krepostnaya mount hosted the final gala concert of the festival. Here, the DSTU ensemble performed 2 dances: "My Daghestan" showing Daghestan people’s culture and dances, and the "Welcoming Lezginka" amazing with its young men’s passion and young girls’ grace. At the end of the gala concert, participants were awarded prizes of the festival.

The "Student Spring in Caucasus" is an exciting event for students from over the North Caucasus aimed at uniting all students to solidify their friendship and cultural ties rather than finding the best of the best. It’s an international qualifier for the program for supporting and developing students’ creativity named "Russian Student Spring" – a contest of students’ creativity in drama, music, dancing, and other genres. This year, about 400 young people from the North Caucasus Federal District, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia participated in the festival.
