Derbent, March 20, 2015. Yesterday, Derbent-2000 volunteer group leaders had a regular training session on the premises of the Museum of World Cultures and Religions in Derbent, a source in the republican ministry of youth affairs told RIA Dagestan.

The training is organized by the Dagestan ministry of youth affairs in conjunction with the Derbent department of physical culture, sports and youth affairs.
The leaders heard an interesting lecture by Naryn-Kala Museum Director Ali Ibragimov about the history of Derbent, its historical monuments, the conquerors of the city, and famous people who have visited it.

The lecturer also expanded on history of the Naryn-Kala citadel which has magnificent architectural monuments dating back to different periods of the city's development: a cross-domed Christian church dated 4-5 century AD, the ruins of 7 ancient Albanian and Arab Sasanian palace complexes, a reservoir of the 11th century, a dungeon of 12-14 centuries, khan baths of the 17th century, a khan's palace of the 18th century, a khan's administrative office of the 18th century, and a guardhouse of the 19th century. The walls of the citadel, the fortress gates and the southern staircase are also of particular interest.

The officials present at the training reiterated the significance of the forthcoming celebrations and promised to provide volunteers with the best assistance possible. They assured they will organize training for the volunteers on a regular basis on the premises of several institutions.
