Makhachkala, September 25 /RIA "Dagestan"/ The Daghestan Clinical Hospital has received 3 new hemodialysis apparatuses, said the head of the hospital’s department of gravitational blood surgery Patimat Gadjiyeva in an interview with RIA "Dagestan".

In the hospital, there are 19 renal dialyzers, 3 of them are the ones we recently received. Yet, for good work we need a minimum of 50 "artificial kidneys". In Daghestan, there are about 2,000 patients in need of them. Currently, hemodialysis centers serve 360 people all over the republic, 165 patients are served by the Daghestan Clinical Hospital.

The other 4 Daghestan hemodialysis centers are the Daghestan Children's Clinical Hospital in Makhachkala, the Kizlyar center, the Khasavyurt center, and the Derbent center. They all need expansion and extra equipment. Nearly all of them work in four shifts, i.e., almost around the clock, without holidays or weekends to treat the patients. Yet, the Daghestan hemodialysis center is on a par with Russian centers and it meets international standards.

Daghestan shows the minimum rate in renal insufficiency mortality in Russia. Though, the centers are still understaffed because working conditions are severely stressful. You have to love your job and your patients to be able to work here. But when you work here, you can’t leave it.
