Dagestan to launch digital literacy skills improvement project

Makhachkala, April 11, 2016. Press and Information Minister of the Republic of Dagestan Aznaur Adzhiev and the Director of the Regional Public Organization "Center of Internet Technologies" (ROCIT), the deputy director of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications Sergey Grebennikov will sign a strategic agreement on the launch of federal project aimed at improving the digital literacy skills among the Russian Federation citizens. The official signing ceremony is expected to be held at “RIF + KIB 2016” Forum to be held April 13-15 in the boarding house "Forest gave" in the Moscow (Metropolitan) district.

"The Republic of Dagestan, the most southern point of the Russian Federation has been chosen as the pilot region. The digital literacy is a set of knowledge and skills that are essential for life in the modern world for the safe and effective use of digital technologies and Internet resources. ROCIT conduct a systematic study of digital literacy in Russia. According to the research, the digital literacy index (DLI) in Russia makes 4.79. The North-Caucasian Federal District displays subindexes of digital literacy (competence, consumption and safety) below the average across the Russian Federation totaling 4.19 points (out of 10)", - the Press and Information Ministry RD reports.

The ROCIT together with the representatives of the Republic of Dagestan will organize and conduct activities to raise the standard of digital literacy for the age groups: children, middle-aged people (young people), older people; using the developed methodology for information security benefits, financial literacy, videos and the variety of educational and training materials.
The study will be conducted in the form of online testing.
