St. Petersburg, May 13, 2015. The delegation headed by Dagestan Envoy in St. Petersburg Gassan Gassanov participated in the ceremony of inaugurating the stele "Kolpino - Military Glory City" and the monument of eternal flame in memory of the soldiers who had died here during the Great Patriotic War.

Speaking to Kolpino residents, St. Petersburg governor Georgy Poltavchenko said: "They say not only people but also cities perform exploits. Throughout its life, Kolpino has proved it with its glorious traditions."

The participants laid flowers at the foot of the stele and the Eternal Flame, which was lit from the Eternal Flame taken from hero cities of Leningrad and Moscow. The particles of the sacred fire were delivered to Kolpino from the monument in Victory Square and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall.
Similar celebrations were also held in the cities of military glory like Kronstadt and Lomonosov which is twinned with the ancient Derbent - the southmost outpost of Russia.

Finally, the governor congratulated veterans and city residents on the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, wished everyone good health, happiness and peaceful sky over the head, and said he hoped the young would preserve the labour and military traditions of the older generation.

The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Union of Russian Military Glory Cities Vadim Ivanov, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the Leningrad siege survivors, heads of municipalities, the military, public organizations and city residents.
