Dagestan authorities draw plan to save leopards and seals

Makhachkala, August 24, 2017. On August 22 Dagestan State Technical University hosted a meeting of the working group for the implementation of joint projects of Government of the Republic of Dagestan and the Public Organization "Center for Nature of the Caucasus" aimed at preserving the population of the Asiatic leopards and the Caspian seals, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic reports.

According to the Ministry officer, the "road maps" and the specific plan of actions for each project have already been drawn up. The progress of their implementation is under special control of the minister. At the moment, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the region, together with authoritative international and the All-Russian organizations has already done a great job for preserving these species of animals in nature.

The director of the International Fund for the Preservation of Marine Mammals, Leni Hart, also took part in the meeting. For more than 20 years she has been studying the causes of seal deaths in the Caspian Sea and the restoration of their population.
