Makhachkala, February 14, 2017. The federal project "Sober Russia" and the expert-analytical center at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation have compiled the national fertility rating for 2016. According to results of the sociological research, two North Caucasian republics - Chechnya and Ingushetia entered top three leaders’ list.

The Republic of Tyva occupies the first place. The data were obtained from the open sources and departmental statistics. The final result was formed on five criteria: the population growth, the birth rate, the number of children per woman, the number of induced abortion and the level of social comfort for family. The higher the points are, the better the region looks according to all the designated indicators.

So, Dagestan (with 36.86 points) goes forth after Tyva (with 41.95 points), Chechnya (with 41.88 points), and Ingushetia (with 37.30 points).

Such seemingly economically prosperous Russian Federation regions as Tambov region (27.31), Tula (27.26), Mordovia (26.93) and Volgograd (26,80) appeared to be among the provinces with the lowest demographic indicators. According to the figures of the same ranking, the most comfortable environment for the birth of children was observed in Belgorod, St. Petersburg and Tambov regions. The local authorities in the above mentioned regions promote healthy lifestyles, assist the young and large families to receive their own housing and institute strict control over the drugs and alcohol abuse.
