Makhachkala, August 13, 2014. Series of cartoons called "A Masters’ Aul" will be shot in Daghestan soon. The animation project was presented today at the Center of Ethnic Culture in Makhachkala. Organized by the "Altus" PR agency, it is supported by Daghestan ministry of education and science.

Director of the animation project Gamzat Issayev said it was a spontaneous idea.

"Today, we are presenting a project, speaking about it for the public to understand what it is all about. We came to the idea of making a film about our republic, our historic heritage, richness and diversity of our culture and crafts, and show the beauty of Caucasian peoples’ customs and traditions," - he said.

The film’s plot is simple – it’s a story of a teenager who came to visit his relatives in an old Daghestan village of the 60s, a bit forgotten and abandoned. The cartoon will be based on adapted works by famous Daghestani writers Gamzat Tsadassa, Akhmedkhan Abubakar, and other Daghestani legends.

"A Masters’ Aul" is a collective image of Daghestan displaying recognizable arts and crafts, traditions, clothing, and cuisine. It will be a funny and exciting happy-end story, where the main adventurous character gains valuable experience and becomes truly Daghestani.

Each episode will be 10-15 minutes long. The first episodes are expected to be aired in a year. The authors believe that cartoons are a critical tool for children’s socialization. Psychological mechanisms of animation affect children’s minds. Therefore, they decided to tell the public about Daghestan’s rich culture and traditions in the interesting and easy-to-grasp form.
