Moscow, April 24, 2015. The Avenue of Dagestani Heroes is to be grandly opened 4 pm on April 28 at Yauzskaya Boulevard in Moscow to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a source in Dagestan Permanent Mission at the Russian President told RIA Dagestan.

As part of the event, they plan to open the Walk of Dagestani Heroes at Yauzskaya Boulevard, where they will install billboards with pictures of Dagestani Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Order of Glory of three degrees – a ceremony with laying flowers at the Cranes sculpture and hearing veterans of the Great Patriotic War, Heroes of the Soviet Union, Russia's State Duma deputies, and other public figures.

The ceremony will be attended by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, members of the Presidential Administration and the Russian President’s embassy in the North Caucasus Federal District, the State Duma deputies, members of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, and other officials.

"Each conscious resident of Dagestan had considered it their sacred duty and honour to defend the homeland against the invading fascist hordes. Dagestan sent to the front about 200,000 people, losing nearly half of them; tens of thousands were awarded orders and medals, 77 Dagestani were awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union and Russia, and 8 people became holders of the Order of Glory," said the source.
