2,500 seedlings of trees and shrubs planted within "Long live forest!" campaign

Makhachkala, November 10, 2014. As part of the "Long live forest!" campaign, staff of the Dagestan Forestry Committee and the Makhachkala Forestry planted over 2,500 seedlings of trees and shrubs on the territory of the Makhachkala forestry’s woodland, in block 42 of the Kumtorkali areal forestry.

Totally in October and November, the staff, schoolchildren and locals planted more than 20,000 seedlings of trees and shrubs, cleared more than 50 hectares of forests of litter and household garbage, and planted about 2,000 seedlings along the approach roads to towns. In many schools, they held extra lessons on environmental topics.

Chairman of Daghestan Forestry Committee Alibeg Gadjiyev stressed the significant work done by foresters, school forestry groups, and Daghestani public and said he was sure that environmental protection would become their lifestyle.

Gadjiyev also pointed out the well-organized and diligent work of the Khasaviurt, Buynaksk, Kazbek, Sergokala, and Magaramkent regional forestries, and the Makhachkala city forestry in attracting public attention to the problems of conserving, restoring and reviving Daghestan’s forests.
