Makhachkala, November 10, 2015. The Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov declared 2016 as the Year of Mountains in the republic, the governmental press service informs.

As reported, in the Year of Mountains the republic government should lay the basis for sustainable development of mountainous areas of Dagestan.

Besides, in 2016 special events will be held, the purpose of which is to preserve and develop traditions, customs, original, centuries-old cultural background of Highlanders. Within 10 days the government of Dagestan will approve the composition of the Organizing Committee, which will soon provide a complete list of planned activities.
