№12 Makhachkala school welcomes 17 Ukrainian schoolchildren

Makhachkala, September 1, 2014. №12 Makhachkala school has opened doors to 17 children of Ukrainian refugees now housed in the "Dolphin" recreation center. Totally, 59 Ukrainian children went to Daghestan schools this September. Of them, 16 children of IDPs living in the "Lezzet" camp went to the secondary school in Manaskent village, Karabudakhkentskiy district. School buses will daily take the children to schools.

The hosting schools helped the kids prepare for September 1 providing them with school uniforms, schoolbags, notebooks, books, and stationery. Shoes were purchased at the municipality’s expense.

As of September 1, 2014, 521 citizens of Ukraine have been sheltered in Daghestan, among them 141 children. The 2 TACs are housing 250 people, including 80 children. 271 refugees are living in Daghestan with their relatives and friends, among them 61 children. In the TACs, people are provided with comfortable rooms, 3 meals daily, and medical care. Teams of psychologists help adults and children relieve their nervous tension, manage their stress, and relax.

The Federal Migration Service’s Daghestan office reports that 51 refugees have applied for a refugee status, including 9 children, and 324 people - for a temporary shelter, including 94 children. 68 Ukrainian citizens got their temporary shelter certificates in Daghestan.
