Vladimir Putin meets with Dagestan Head

Makhachkala, November 3, 2016. Yesterday, November 2, Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov. The official event took place in the Russian President's residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.

The meeting started with a discussion of the emergency situation in the republic caused by a flood and contamination of drinking water sources with wastes. Up to 700 residents of Dagestani capital – Makhachkala had got water-poisoning and, according to Ramazan Abdulatipov, 273 patients still remain in the hospitals.

The situation is stabilizing. The Russian Healthcare Ministry, the Federal Supervision Service for Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) and other organizations are providing assistance.

A special republican emergency group is gathering daily to monitor and discuss the situation. The republican directorate of the Investigative Committee has instituteв criminal proceedings in the case of mass poisoning. The Head of the Republic pointed out that the officials undertake all the necessary measures against the responsible parties.

Besides, Dagestani Head reported on the successful implementation of project management, which had a positive impact on the economic development of Dagestan for the last three years. "Within three years, according to the principles of the project management, we established special project offices in the ministries, departments and municipalities of the republic. Thanks to this we managed to ensure the positive dynamics of the economic development", - Abdulatipov said.

In general, according to Abdulatipov, the situation in the republic is stable. In terms of industrial development, Dagestan is in the top five regions of the Russian Federation. The growth rates of the agricultural production remain steady. Optimization of expenses is receiving special attention.

The Head of the Republic also briefed the President on several promising projects that could have a significant impact on the socioeconomic development of Dagestan and on stability in the region.
