Russian Foreign Ministry expresses deep concern on civilian casualties from US-led coalition air strikes

On February 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry made a statement that Moscow was deeply concerned about civilian casualties during the air strikes by the coalition forces led by the United States. The Russian Foreign Ministry urged to join efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Syria and counter terrorism.

"Moscow found out that the air strikes carried out by the forces of "anti-ISIL coalition" led by the United States killed 15 civilians. The raid took place in the city of Shaddad, located in the north-eastern Syria. There is also an incoming information about the victims of shelling from Turkish territory in the northern regions of Syria" – the statement runs.

The Russian side, in turn, called on members of the coalition, especially Ankara, to make every effort to avoid civilian casualties. "The anti-ISIL coalition" led by the US strikes on objects of “Islamic State” and Dzhebgat en-Nusra not having a permit from the official Syrian authorities. Russia opposes to terrorists in Syria at the request of the President Assad.
