Makhachkala, April 25, 2014. Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov met with the Azerbaijan delegation taking part in the Russian cultural and investment forum "Culture and Economy of Regional Policy in Modern Context" taking place in Makhachkala, says vestikavkaza.ru.

The meeting also brought together Daghestan Prime Minister Abdussamad Gamidov, Cheif of Head and Government Administration Ramazan Aliyev, and the Azerbaijan delegation - Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, MP Rauf Aliyev, and Rector of Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy Farkhad Badalbayli, reports the Press Service Board of the Daghestan Head and Government Administration.

Welcoming the guests, Ramazan Abdulatipov pointed out Azerbaijan’s successful development, adding that unfortunately, Daghestan and Azerbaijan still have no joint economic or cultural projects.

"At the beginning of the 20th century, our relationships with Azerbaijan were several times more measurable than now. You have a rich culture and you are beautiful nation. We are pleased that we are gradually overcoming the moment of self-sufficiency. We’ll keep developing our relations," – said Abdulatipov, "AzerTAj" informs.

"In Daghestan, we shall implement dozens of Azerbaijan projects, and dozens of Daghestan projects should be implemented in Azerbaijan. The Daghestani and the Azerbaijani are in many ways people of close cultures and related traditions," - said the Daghestan head.

In turn, Minister Abulfaz Garayev read out the congratulatory message by President Ilham Aliyev noting that Azerbaijan and Daghestan are republics that must always be together because of sharing common goals and objectives of developing the Caspian region.

"We are historically and culturally connected with each other. You are absolutely right in saying our relations should intensify. We have the potential. We want to strongly support the national culture you have. Yesterday, our delegation visited Derbent and saw the Naryn Kala fortress. It is a historic site uniting our two nations,"- said Abulfas Garayev.

The forum has been organized and sponsored by the Daghestan government and the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts of the Russian Ministry of Culture. The main aim of the forum held within the Year of Culture is to discuss major challenges of developing the cultural environment and economy in Russian regions and their territorial models allowing them to harmonize the cultural and social environment.
