Preparing for Derbent’s anniversary

Makhachkala, April 28, 2014. On April 26, Daghestan Prime Minister Abdussamad Gamidov held a regular meeting in Derbent on preparing and celebrating the city’s 2,000th anniversary.

The meeting brought together Derbent Mayor Imam Yaraliev, Head of Daghestan state organization "Derbent 2,000" Ali Nurmagomedov, the deputy Head of Derbent Administration Sergey Azimov, and heads of departments.

Participants heard the report on fulfilling the orders Daghestan Prime Minister A. Gamidov gave after his working trip to Derbent (April 15, 2014). In particular, legal procedures on issues related to reconstructing Aliyev St., building an Olympic complex in Derbent, and coordinating measures for reconstructing Derbent’s road network implemented within preparing for the anniversary and relieving the consequences of the disaster within the Emergency Ministry are being completed, Sergey Azimov reported at the meeting.

The Azerbaijan side is planning to fully bring order to Heydar Aliyev St. including reconstructing utilities, coating the buildings, landscaping the street, and building an Olympic Complex in Nizami Park.

Further, participants discussed issues on preparing ideas for including reconstruction of Derbent utilities (electricity and gas networks and roads) in investment programs of natural monopolies, for correcting the design specifications and estimates of building a polyclinic for 1,000 visits per shift in Derbent, and for expanding the "Rostov - Baku" federal highway in the city.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister A. Gamidov gave instructions to the Ministries of Economy, Regional Development, Construction, Architecture and Housing, Health, and Culture and said that similar offsite meeting with Daghestan ministers directly involved in preparing for celebration of Derbent’s 2,000th anniversary will be held on a regular basis.
