Makhachkala, May 23, 2015. On Thursday, May 21, the Prime Minister of Dagestan Abdussamad Gamidov held a meeting with the head of Land Reclamation Department of the Ministry of Agriculture RF Daniil Putyatin. The Department head briefly spoke about the purpose of his visit and several reclamation network facilities he managed to inspect in southern Dagestan. "During a short period of time of my staying here, Dagestan made a favorable impression on me. Besides, we succeeded in productive work" - Putyatin noted with satisfaction.

In his turn, Abdusamad Gamidov, expressed appreciation for the arrival of the guest and highlighted the existing problems: "The republic cannot develop agricultural sector without irrigation cultivation of most crops, taking into account the fact that Dagestan is one of the country's regions, where due to climatic conditions the agriculture is risky. The irrigated land is like a kind of gold reserve in the gross agricultural production of Dagestan".

Noting the importance of implementation of the priority project "Effective agriculture", developed by the initiative of Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov, the Prime Minister reminded that the development of viticulture is one of the project subprograms. "In past we grew 380,000 tons of grapes a year, nowadays this figure fell to 40 thousand tons. Therefore, our task is to develop the industry and achieve significant results. This direction in agriculture is a priority one, for the republic has all the necessary conditions for the cultivation of this crop. In this regard, it is very important for us to conduct reclamation work in Dahestan"- Gamidov said, voicing his gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, in particular, for its support of the republican land-reclamation system.

The meeting participants also discussed the problematic issues requiring joint participation. "In southern Dagestan the private entrepreneurs steadily yield two crops a year on the same site. The agricultural producers, observing the measures to ensure the irrigation water undertaken by state bodies will be interested to develop their enterprises in the nearest future. Each year, they practically run the risk of losing permanent source of water, hoping for rain. Today the situation is changing for the better, and we have prospects for the development of other agricultural lands"- the Prime Minister said.

Daniil Putyatin also announced another aspect of the work - a major overhaul of land reclamation system and rapid response to the changing situations. "It is important that the region did not reduced emphasis on reclamation. If we move in the fairway, I think the results will be significant enough, and we will succeed. Besides, the activation of investment process will surely give an impetus to the growth of crop production" - the Department head said.
