Makhachkala, July 30, 2014. Last week, a methodical workshop on how media are covering implementation of priority Daghestan development projects was held by Daghestani Head and government’s administration boards on domestic policy and territorial development and on evaluation and project management, the ministry of press and information, and chief editors of republican and municipal media. The reason was what Daghestani Head said about the role of civil society in implementing the priority projects: "People still don’t quite understand what is there behind the priority Daghestan development projects."

The workshop brought together head of Daghestani Head and government’s administration board on evaluation and project management Dmitry Linkov, his deputy Marina Stepanenko, 1st deputy minister of press and information Zubairu Zubairuev, head of Daghestani Head and government’s administration board on domestic policy and territorial development Mavlidin Malikov, and other officials.

Dmitry Linkov was the one to say that Daghestan hosts much more positive events than those covered by the republican and local media. Marina Stepanenko encouraged media to seek more positive happenings and post them on sites of municipal and republican media. She also noted that in a month’s time, Daghestani Head and government’s administration board on evaluation and project management will monitor the republican and municipal media to instruct municipal heads and chief media editors what they need to do to better the situation.

Zubair Zubairuev urged the participants to be more active in social networks and create there municipal newspapers’ pages. He also recommended that municipal TV stations create accounts on Youtube to post videos on positive happenings taking place in cities and regions.
