Daghestani militia send open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin

Makhachkala, March 13, 2014. Daghestani public organization "Daghestan -1999" Constitutional Order Defenders’ Union" headed by Umakhan Umakhanov, a deputy of the Russian State Duma and a participant to the 1999 August events in Daghestan, have sent an open letter to President Vladimir Putin. In the message, the militias say the words of support of the president’s policy as for Ukraine and Crimea.

"The Crimean population’s decision to join Russia is the best example of fighting the Bandera fascism. In August 1999, we, Daghestani militias, preserved the integrity and protected the constitutional system of the Russian Federation from international rebel groups of Basayev and Khattab.
Today, the public organization of constitutional order defenders in the name of militia support all actions of the Russian president and expresses its solidarity and fraternal unity with the peoples of Ukraine.

On behalf of the "Daghestan -1999" Constitutional Order Defenders’ Union", we declare through our leader - State Duma Deputy, Co-chairman of Daghestan Militia Headquarters, Honorary Chairman of the "Daghestan -1999" NGO,  August 1999 defender Umakhan Umakhanov - that we are ready to fulfill any task to protect the constitutional order in Russia, including Crimea," - the letter said.
