Daghestani Head meets with Iraqi delegation

Makhachkala, April 24, 2014. On Wednesday, April 23, Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov met with the delegation of Iraq.

It was announced that the guests would take part in the All-Russian cultural and investment forum " Culture and Economy of Regional Policy in Modern Context” , which opened yesterday in Makhachkala , the press service of Daghestani Head and Government Administration reports.

The delegation included the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation Ismail Shafiq Muhsin, the First Secretary of Embassy of Iraq Hussein Ali Abdulbaqi Alrammah, an employee of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation Isam Mohammed Haider Alsabbak, the Chairman of Daghestani Government Abdussamad Gamidov, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman in Makhachkala Bagavudin Aliyev.

Welcoming the guests, R. Abdulatipov pointed out that Iraq is a "country of ancient culture". The long-standing relations among Daghestanis and the Iraqi peoples will help us to cooperate and develop a variety of industries in the republic, including industry and education.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation Shafiq Muhsin Ismail thanked Daghestani Head for the opportunity to meet with him.

The Head of delegation, in particular, noted: "This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Russian- Iraqi relations. The Government of Iraq has a great desire to cooperate with the Russian Federation. Besides, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin declared that Iraq is one of the most important partners of Russia in the Middle East."

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq informed that Iraq and the Russian Federation had developed partnerships in the economy, especially in the energy sector and identified a number of Russian companies operating in the Iraqi oil industry. It was also noted that Iraq is interested in developing relations with Russia in terms of agricultural development.

"The methods of irrigation practiced in your country can be useful in our republic; we also need agricultural machinery. Iraq will consider the proposal for grain supplies from Russia ", - Ismail Shafiq Muhsin said.

As for the Iraqi- Daghestan relations, then, according to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, both republics have long-standing relations:

"Many Daghestan families are living in Iraq. Muhammad Fazil-pasha Dagestanī, a native of Daghestan, was the governor of Baghdad for a few years. His son, Ghazi Dagestanī, was also a chief of the General Staff of Iraqi Armed Forces. The father and son personify the strength and courage of Daghestani people for Iraqis.

Having visited exposition part of cultural and investment Forum, we were convinced that Daghestan is very developed culturally and were pleased to see the traditional crafts of Daghestan peoples. Today we need to renew a variety of cultural relations that existed earlier", - the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation Ismail Shafiq Muhsin concluded.
