Dagestan native takes office of Russia's ambassador to Eritrea

Makhachkala, January 21, 2015. According to the Decree of the RF President Vladimir Putin, a native of the republic of Dagestan, a senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Azim Yarakhmedov has been appointed as an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the State of Eritrea.

"This is the second time in the history of Dagestan, when our fellow countryman takes the highest diplomatic position in a foreign country. The first Dagestani, appointed to such a high diplomatic post, was the Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdullatipov, who worked for many years as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in Tajikistan.

Azim Alaudinovich Yarakhmedov born on February 20, 1960 in the village of Kasumkent Suleiman Stalsky district of Dagestan. In 1983 he graduated from Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute, in 1989 - Dagestan State University, in 1998 - the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry. PhD in Political Science, speaks Turkish and English.
