Abdulatipov calls for introduction of anti-corruption commissioners

Makhachkala, July 2, 2015. The Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov took an initiative to introduce the institution of anti-corruption commissioners, who would work in municipalities, ministries and departments of anti-corruption commissioners. This he announced on the eve of the Forum “Effective measures to combat corruption" in Makhachkala.

"The commissioners should be sel ected openly and they must be fully responsible and accountable to the specialized Anti-corruption department and the prime minister of government of the Republic of Dagestan" - Abdulatipov said.

Dagestan Head also noted that the state republican anti-corruption program need to be amended.

"Do not put it off till tomorrow, you need to put things in order, otherwise the republic will return to the situation that we found 2-3 years ago, when Dagestan was almost on the verge of a deep crisis because of unscrupulous managers" - the Head of the republic warned.

Abdulatipov called the corruption and the shadow economy the main sources for the expansion of extremism and terrorism. "It is important to understand that the shadow economy, corruption and gangsterism exist together in close conjunction; this is the reason of the current pitiful state of the republic " – Abdulatipov added.

The Head of Dagestan explained that the republican leadership carried out active work to combat corruption in the republic. As a result, a number of top officials had been removed fr om their posts.
